GARY EDWARD STROPPA
Born: Jul 26, 1951
Date of Passing: Dec 11, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGARY EDWARD STROPPA July 26, 1951 - December 11, 2005 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and uncle on Sunday, December 11, 2005, at the Health Sciences Centre. After a lengthy illness Gary peacefully passed away with his devoted wife Cindy at his side. During his last few weeks, he was supported and cared for by not only his closest of family, but by those he had touched. Gary was born in Winnipeg, MB, and grew up in Crescentwood where he attended Rockwood and Grant Park High School. He was employed by Bristol Aerospace and was involved with human rights and the CAW union. Throughout Gary's life he was a coach and mentor to many teams and always involved in the community. His last few years he was involved with the North Winnipeg Nomads Football Club, where he was a great inspiration to all. When Gary wasn't busy in the community he enjoyed his free time at the lake with family and friends. When he was a young boy, he enjoyed the family weekend trips at the farm, fishing or visiting our grandmother (Nona) in Brandon, MB. These experiences gave Gary a great love and appreciation for family and the outdoors. Even though his time on this earth was short, it was full of love and happiness with his family and friends (too numerous to mention). Gary was predeceased by his mother Shirley (Lingholt); grandparents and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is survived by his loving wife Cindy; father Edward and wife Hazel; daughters and sons, Cherie, Michael (Lisa), Derek (Angel), Steven, Carly, Allan, Christopher and newly connected daughter Karyn Johnson; as well as his grandchildren, Bailey, Brooke, Hailee and Juree. In addition, he will always be remembered and sadly missed by siblings, Gerald (Liz), Linda (Bill) Watson, Edeena (Floyd) Langan, Ramon (Yvonne), Sheryll (Kevin) Russell; and many nieces, nephews, also great-nieces and great-nephews. Gary will be forever cherished and his memory treasured, God has called you home and has broken all of our hearts. Please join the family to reflect and celebrate Gary's life on Saturday, December 17 at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave., at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would request that donations be made to one of Gary's many passions the Nomads Building Fund, contact Ron Havens at 475-5000, ext. 218. Gary was a sweetheart and my memories of him go back 30 plus years ago when I was just becoming a teenager and I was smitten by my handsome cousin. I did n't meet Gary as an adult but I do have fond childhood memories of all the games he and my cousins Linda and Edeena came up with for all of my sisters and brothers when we came to stay or visit. During those childhood days the Stroppa household was always fun to visit. I send my sincere condolences to Gary's wife Cindy and all of the family. Sincerely, France Queyras - Posted by: France Queyras (Family) on: Dec 30, 2005

Gary was my second cousin and although we were not close, I was impressed at his attitude and many achievements. He had a good outlook on life and enjoyed helping others any way he could. I found him to be very friendly and sociable. He will be missed by his many relatives, friends and acquaintances. He has gone to a better place in heaven and will not have to suffer any more. I am sorry that I will not be able to attend his funeral due to a prior travel committment. My sympathy is extended to his family. - Posted by: Frank Stroppa (Family) on: Dec 16, 2005

Gary was truly a remarkable man, he inspired me to do many things over the years I normally may not have done. Gary had a special bond with my son, I really appreciated him taking him under his wing, teaching him valuable lessons on / off field. Those hour long talks on the phone he and my son shared will never be forgotten, many good memories, that is something Gary left us all.. Gary will never be forgotten, and always remembered for the great guy he was. Us Nomads were truly blessed to have such a great mentor. RIP my friend. - Posted by: marney wahl (Friend) on: Dec 16, 2005

Our brother and brother-in-law Gary will be missed very deeply by so many people he touched during his brief time here on Earth. We love and miss you so very much. Mom was watching down on Gary from Heaven up above She could feel and see his suffering surrounded by so much love So on God's day, she beseeched HIM to end his pain And so HE sent Gary to Heaven to be with Mom once again - Posted by: Linda and Bill Watson (Family) on: Dec 16, 2005

I only saw my cousin Gary once as an adult, but that meeting made me wish he was in my life more often. Passionate, with vision and energy to chase it, I found him inspiring: a good community man who knew the value of a sideline wave. Although distance did not allow us to meet again, I always smiled when I thought of Gary. If even such a distant connection was so powerful, I am at a loss to describe what those who had him by their side must be feeling now. My thoughts go out to you. And Gary. - Posted by: Sina Queyras (Family) on: Dec 15, 2005

Uncle Gary decided to go live with his Mom in heaven and although I will miss him; he is pain free. Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sun on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there; I did not die. - Posted by: Orlena Grancich (Family) on: Dec 15, 2005
