EGBERT (ED) BUNSKOEK Loving Husband, Father, Opa, Brother, Friend It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the passing of Egbert (Ed) Bunskoek, beloved husband of Myrna. Ed was born on May 17, 1937 in Eygelshoven, Holland. He came to Canada at the tender age of 19 where he met and later married the love of his life. He leaves to mourn his wife of 46 years, Myrna and their children, Derk, Belinda, (Frank) Wally, Deborah and Shawn. Ed loved his family and was the family's constant source of strength. He always wanted people to better themselves and continually encouraged his children and grandchildren to keep their focus on their future and to always strive for the best. Pop was the classic patriarch, his profound love for family and self-sacrifices for their betterment was a testament of his love, he led his life with a sincere and genuine heart. His grand sense of humour sometimes took on a life of its own, from joking with the grandchildren to teasing every single person that passed through the doors of his home, pop was the joker, the teaser, the prankster. Ed's commitment to his family spilled over into his commitment for work. Ed was a hard working and dedicated employee of the City of Winnipeg working in the Parks and Recreation department with many varied responsibilities including welding and then becoming a foreman. Ed enjoyed his work and the people he worked with right up until his retirement. Afterwards, he continued to work on his property and for various friends and family members, fixing and welding whatever it was that needed repair. Pop was the fixer off all things whether it was building a birdhouse with the grandchildren or welding one of numerous cars for his children or for friends. Pop was the one that everyone went to when something needed repair. Honorary pallbearers are all of his grandchildren, Alexandria Narine, Daniel Wonnacott, Ashley Bunskoek, Kyle Bunskoek, Samantha Wonnacott and Kendra Bunskoek. A special thank you to Dr. Pat Harris and to the staff at Teulon Home Care for their care and compassion. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service, a celebration of Ed's life on Thursday, January 5, 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave. Arrangements entrusted to: VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME CREMATORIUM 220 Hespeler at Henderson Hwy. 668-3151
