Janet was born October 29, 1906 in Gilbert Plains, MB daughter of John and Jessie Eagle. She was one of seven children, four boys and three girls. She graduated from Normal School in Winnipeg in 1923 and taught in schools in rural Manitoba until she married Larry Rowlatt in August 1938 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. They first lived in Carman, MB where Larry worked in the bank. Her two boys, Bob and Don were both born in Carman. From Carman the family moved to Flin Flon, MB from 1944 to 1949, to Fort Frances, ON from 1949 to 1955, to Unity, SK from 1955 to 1959 and then to Swift Current, SK from 1959 to 1969. Janet was a woman of strong values who, in every place she lived, looked for the positives in the community and the good in people. She was active in youth and church groups and always enjoyed the support and company of close friends. Her husband, Laurance Hague Rowlatt died in Swift Current in 1967 at age 59, one year before retirement. Two years after his death Janet moved back to Winnipeg where she has lived ever since. She remained active in her church, and the Eastern Star until the mid 1990s when she moved into a nursing home. Janet is survived by one brother Mac Eagle of Kelowna, BC; her sons, Bob of Ajijic, MX and Don of Victoria, BC; four grandchildren, Leslie Whitehead of Roland, MB, Rob Rowlatt of Kingston, ON, Megan Clendenan and Todd Rowlatt of Vancouver, BC; and five great-grandchildren, Erin, Nathan, Brent, Jack and Ryan.
