OLEXA LYSENKO 1915 - 2006 On Wednesday, January 4, 2006, Olexa Lysenko, aged 90 years, beloved husband of Inna passed away peacefully, during a brief illness of pneumonia. Olexa was born in Ukraine and arrived in Canada in 1947. He married Inna Kowalska in 1949 and they had three children. Olexa worked at Dominion Bridge in Winnipeg until his retirement in 1979, when he and his wife, Inna, moved to British Columbia. They returned back to Winnipeg in 2000, where he lived out his remaining years at Holy Family Nursing Home. Olexa was a creative writer, artist and musician. He enjoyed fishing and working in his orchard in British Columbia. Olexa leaves to cherish his memory his wife Inna; children, Victor and wife Patricia; Volodymyr and wife Tamali; Alexandra and husband Michel Bruderlein; seven grandchildren, Jasmine, Alissa, Krishan, Alexander, Lilina, Mykyta and Daniel; and great-grandson Shaunyata. Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 9 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. in Winnipeg with Rev. Fr. A. Harkavyi officiating. Olexa will rest in peace in Glen Eden Cemetery. Family members will be his pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation are appreciated. Special thanks is extended to the doctors and nurses at Concordia Hospital for helping our father during his illness, and especially the staff of Holy Family Nursing Home for all their patience and care.
