TERRY WAYNE MCNAUGHTON July 28, 1942 - January 6, 2006 Peacefully, with his wife by his side, it is with great sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Terry after a courageous battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his father, William J. McNaughton and his faithful pet and companion Reiko. Left to cherish his memory are his mother Jean McNaughton, of Hamiota; his loving soul-mate and wife of 25 years, Linda; daughters, Janice McNaughton-Veinot (Derrick) of Birds Hill, Debbie (Gerry) Savard of Winnipeg, and stepson Darrell (Bonnie) of Ontario. He is also survived by his sister Linda Conner; nephew Morgan and niece Amber Marie; grandchildren, Dustin (Christy and Jordan), Breanne, Terrin, Devin, Jaedan, Camille, Sandra, and Michael. Terry had retired recently after 35 years with the Province of Manitoba, Department of Natural Resources and had discovered the joy of a fifth wheel. He was looking forward to a retirement of travelling to new adventures. His good nature, loyalty and willingness to lend a helping hand made him many a friend and he will be fondly remembered by all, including members of the Winnipeg music community where he was an active trumpeter for decades. Terry was a hard worker who took keen pride in everything he did. He was a creative carpenter and handyman, proud of his home, grounds, and the work he did there. He enjoyed the outdoors and one of his greatest joys was being out on the lake in his boat in summer. He was renowned for his annual fish fry with friends and family. He was a loving father, son, and husband. The family would like to thank the staff at CancerCare, Dr. Demsas, the chemo staff Melanie and Debbie, and the nursing staff on the medical ward at Selkirk District Hospital for their compassion. A celebration of Terry's life will be held on Thursday, January 12 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations in Terry's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Pediatrics. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
