EMILIE BODNAR (MILA DOWHAN) Mila Bodnar passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 8, 2006, at Holy Family Nursing Home. Mila will be missed and leaves to cherish her memory daughter Anna, her husband William Barto; grandsons Phillip, Adam and Anthony Barto; son Zenon and wife Deborah; relatives in Ukraine, Toronto, Michigan as well as all her dear friends. Mila was predeceased by her husband and partner in life Mechylo; mother Hanya; father Ivan; and brother Ivan. Mila was born on December 25, 1926 and raised in selo Zarkiw, povit Bodiw in Ukraine. She left home at the age of 16 and was taken to a work camp in Germany. At the end of the war she moved to Marple, England, where she met and married Mechylo Bodnar in 1949. After the birth of their daughter, Anna, they immigrated and settle in Winnipeg. Mila worked as a seamstress until the birth of son, Zenon. Mom and Dad were members of St. Andrew's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral and 141 Legion. Mom was a lady of many talents, from her cooking to her fine needlework. Everyone was welcome at Mom's table and she loved cooking and entertaining family and friends. Sunday dinners at Mom and Dad's are sadly missed. Happiness was to have her family and friends at her dinner table. For the last three years, Mila was a resident of Holy Family Nursing Home. The family extends it's gratitude to the staff for their kind and compassionate care. Prayers will be said on Thursday, January 12, at 7:00 p.m. at Knysh Funeral Home, 1020 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be held Friday, January 13, at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, 114 McGregor St. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery. Right Rev. Msgr. Mitrat M. Buyachok officiating. Vichnaya PamYat KNYSH FUNERAL CHAPEL 582-0973
