DOUGLAS WILLIAM JORDAN (MAJOR RTD) Doug was born August 28, 1919 in Quebec City, QC, the only son of William and Lilian Jordan. He was a graduate of Commissioners High School in Quebec City and entered the Canadian Army September 1939, in the 1st Canadian Division as a Bombadier. He served in England from 1940 to 1942 and returned to Canada in 1942 to receive a commission as a Lieutenant in the Canadian Artillery. In March, 1943, he returned to England and served in Europe with the 5th Canadian Anti-Tank Regiment - 4th division. Doug returned to Canada in July 1945. As a career soldier, Doug also served in Korea with the 3rd R.C.H.A. He retired as a Major in 1969 and joined the Winnipeg School Division as a supervisor of purchasing, retiring in 1982. He was a faithful member of Charleswood United Church. Doug was unparalleled as a husband, father, grandfather and as a loyal Canadian. He is predeceased by his sister Violet Rourke and is survived by wife Dorothy; children, Doug, Don and Yvonne; sisters, Edith Beverley and Hazel Conway; grandchildren, Todd (Lisa), Sara, Graeme, Siri, Emily, Daniel, Megan, and Emma, daughters-in-law, Sharron and Joanne; and son-in-law, Mark. Service to be held Friday, February 24 at 10:00 a.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to T-3 Benevolent Fund , care of Arlis Decorte, Deer Lodge Hospital, 2109 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3T 0LT.
