TERESA SOROKA (SZELAZEK)

TERESA SOROKA (nee SZELAZEK) Peacefully at home, with her family at her side, Teresa passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2006. Teresa is survived by her husband Jozef; her brother and sister-in-law, Ignac and Zofia Szelazek and her sister Genia Basarab. She is also survived by her niece Joanna and husband Ramin Hamedani, their children, Brian and Alexandra; and nephew Paul and wife Nicole Szelazek and their son Jakob. Teresa also leaves many aunts, uncles and cousins in Poland. She was predeceased by her parents, Emeryk and Amela; and her brother-in-law Walter Basarab. Teresa was born on October 4, 1947 in Poland and came to Winnipeg in 1971. She married Jozef on August 15, 1992. Teresa was a lovely and hard working person who enjoyed her life to the fullest. She worked for many years at Winnipeg Leather and most recently at Walmart. She was an active member of Holy Ghost Church and enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Teresa was comforted by all those who visited and prayed for her during her difficult illness. Thank you to the Palliative Care Nurses, especially to Tammie Lee, for their exceptional care for Teresa. Prayers will be held on Friday, February 24 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 25 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave. with Rosary commencing at 9:30 a.m. An Oblate Father will preside at both services. Interment to follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. Flowers are respectfully declined. At Teresa's request, donations may be made, in Teresa's memory, to Holy Ghost Church. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
