JOSIP JURKOVIC It is with sadness the family announces the passing of Josip Jurkovic at the age of 64 in Penticton, BC. He is survived by his wife Slavka Gloria; sister Katica; niece Maria (Dante); grand-niece Tina; nephew Anton and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins through Croatia and Canada. His in-laws the Smilianov family will also miss him. Josip was born in Kuterevo, Croatia on September 18, 1941. He grew up in Croatia and immigrated to Canada in his 20's. He settled in Winnipeg and worked for Inland Steel for 38 years, then it changed hands to Buhler Industries and he continued working for another three years retiring in 2004. They moved to B.C. and enjoyed their retirement. Josip loved to play the accordion and sing his traditional Croatian folk music. Golfing was his favourite pastime. He was a loving and devoted husband and a wonderful friend. He was kind and generous to everyone. He will be truly missed. Prayers will be held on Thursday, March 9 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 10 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Tavelich Roman Catholic Church, 2688 Main St. Interment to follow in St. Vital Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Josip's memory to a charity of one's choice. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
