Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNE BRAUN (nee PENNER) On Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at the Misericordia Place Personal Care Home, Anne died at the age of 76 years of Winnipeg, MB. Anne was born on New Year's Day, 1930 in Rosenfeld, MB, the second of 8 children to Lena and Jacob Penner. Remaining to forever cherish her memory are her daughter Leslie and grandchildren, Kyle and Sage; all seven siblings, spouses and by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband John (1985) and her parents. In the late 1940s Anne and her elder brother Jake went to work hoeing sugar beets in southern Manitoba. They told wonderful stories about adventures such as wanting to go to the States one evening. They were stopped at the border as the car they were driving had no lights. They found four flashlights somewhere and taped them to the hood and trunk and were on their way. There was a group of friends and siblings that shared housing in the 1950s in Winnipeg. Anne married John in 1956 and their only daughter was born in 1962. Anne worked for many years at Eaton's mail-order warehouse. After her daughter was settled in school she attained her GED and did accounting work with John. The year her first grandchild was born in 1993, Anne was diagnosed with Parkinson's. She persevered with this debilitating illness actively grandparenting her grandchildren, including a trip to Disney World in 2001, until she just couldn't manage anymore. Anne fell breaking her hip in 2004 beginning the journey that ended at Misericordia Place. Here she was compassionately cared for until her death on May 10, 2006. A reception to celebrate Anne's life will be held on Thursday, May 18 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the home of Werner and Dorothy Braun, 31 Linden Ridge Dr. Special thanks to Lisa and Hannah who are truly gifted in the art and science of healing and caring. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Misericordia Place Foundation or to the Humane Society. Anne's arrangements have been entrusted to the Family Owned Funeral Chapel of: WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
