GRANT BOND Peacefully on August 2, 2006, Grant Bond of Teulon, passed away at the age of 90 years. Grant was born on May 30, 1916 in Teulon to Albert and Elizabeth Bond. He was raised on the family farm in the Stacpoole District. He worked for a short time in Winnipeg and Red Lake, before returning to Teulon to establish his own farm. On November 26, 1938, Grant married Esther Hanson and continued to farm in the Stacpoole District until 1959. They purchased a farm in the Dundas District and with the help of all their children, established a thriving farm operation. In 1973 they moved to Teulon and retired from farming in 1980. Grant's retirement from the farm occurred mainly because of his failing eyesight. In retirement, Grant and Esther thoroughly enjoyed growing a large garden and maintaining a well kept yard. Throughout his life, Grant enjoyed the outdoors, particularly hunting, fishing and camping with family and friends. Grant had a keen interest in what was happening in other parts of the world and was fortunate to travel to many countries. He loved to tell his family about farming practises in these other countries. Left to mourn are his two daughters, Evelyn (Wayne) Bowles of Souris and Patricia (Owen) Beever of Brandon; his six sons, Donald (Lena) of Wanless, Kenneth (Sylvia) of Winnipeg, Bruce (Donna) of Teulon, Leonard of St. Albert, AB, Stuart (Dayve) of Dugald and Murray (Margaret) of Teulon. He is also survived by daughters-in-law, Sharon Bond and Adele Bond of Teulon and 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Juno, his dog, was a faithful and trusted companion. Grant was predeceased by Esther, his wife of 65 years, in May 2004. He was also predeceased by his son Raymond in December 2000 and grandchildren, Loreen Bond in April 1962, Sharon Bowles in April 2000 and Clair Bond in March 2006. He was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Irene (Ivy) Campbell and Lillian Bond and two brothers, Allan and William. The family would like to thank the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital for their excellent care and compassion. We would also like to thank the doctors and nurses at Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital for the many years of special care given to our Dad. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 8 at 11:00 a.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Teulon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, 1080 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3G 3M3. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon in care of arrangements.
