VERNA BODNARCHUK (nee Wishnicki) Suddenly on September 10, 2006 at her home where she most wanted to be, Verna left us to be reunited with her beloved husband Steve, at the age of 80 years. Verna was predeceased by her husband Steve in 1972; parents, Emil and Helen Wishnicki; stepfather Roy Jocelyn; brother Alex; nephews, Doug and Allan. Verna is survived by brother Rudy (Virginia) Wishnicki; sister Sophie Poitras; nephews, Bob (Tracey), Gord (Rose), Tim (Debbie), Bobby, Eddy (Lindsay); niece Helena; numerous cousins, very close friend Elsie and many others. Verna grew up in Carrick, after marrying Steve moved to Sundown and later to Winnipeg, Manitoba. Although Verna never had children of her own, her door was open to many through the years. Verna loved to cook for family and friends even after closing her restaurant business. She also loved to attend church and took pride singing in the choir. Verna will always be remembered with deep, abiding love. Prayers will be held Thursday evening, September 14, 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral Liturgy to follow on Friday, September 15 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church at 110 Disraeli St. with Very Rev. Fr. J. Melnyk officiating. Interment at All Saints Cemetery, 4535 Main St. Pallbearers will be: Tim, Gord, Bobby Wishnicki, Bob Poitras, Eddy Watt, Gary Anderson. In lieu of flowers if friends so wish donations may be made in Verna's memory to Quagga Kitten Kaboodle and Stray Cat Rescue, 970 St. Mary's Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2M 3R8.
