VIOLA GRACE BODKIN (nee SPARROW) September 13, 1921 - September 30, 2006 Viola Bodkin passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 30, 2006. Viola was dearly loved by her family and friends. She was the beloved wife of William (Eric) Bodkin for 64 loving years. She was predeceased by her beloved husband William; her sisters, Dorothy (Dot) Bauder, Beata Sparrow; her brothers, Clarence and Frank Sparrow; her two sons, William (Bill) and Don; and her foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peterson. Left to mourn her passing are George Hamm (half-brother), daughter Lynn Jolicoeur (John), son Shane Bodkin (Sheila), daughter-in-law Andrea (Don); 11 grandchildren, Sandy, Rick, Carl, Scott, Darrin, Ken, Dan, Maria, Graham, Jennifer and Heather; and many great-grandchildren and her best lifelong friend and foster sister Ella Binns. Viola was born and raised in the Portage la Prairie area of Manitoba. On December 28, 1941 she married her knight in shining armour, Eric (William). She was a homemaker--chef extraordinaire, white-glove standard housekeeper and brilliant financial manager. She loved to play the organ and piano. Viola enjoyed travelling and frequently went to Barbados over the years. Viola and Eric spent 64 wonderful years together and built a strong and loving relationship. She was elegant, classy and had a mischievous sense of humour. She was a kind and caring person always helping family and friends in times of need. Dearly loved by her family and friends, she is sorely missed. Viola passed away peacefully in her sleep early Saturday morning September 30, 2006. The family would like to thank WHRA Home Care, Parkview Place and Vista Park Lodge for the care and support given over the last three years. A private memorial service will be held for family and friends on Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. Please contact Shane at (204) 292-9225 for the location. Interment will be arranged in the near future and details will be announced at the service. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the Parkinson Society of Manitoba, 302 - 171 Donald or the Manitoba Deaf Association, 240 - 285 Pembina Hwy. or a charity of your choice.
