(SAMMIE) MAUREEN LORRAINE BOWERY August 6, 1930 February 8, 2007 It is with profound sadness that we must announce the passing of Sammie Bowery, beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Sammie was very recently predeceased by Ron Bowery her husband of 54 years and the love of her life for the past 61 years. Left to mourn her passing are her much loved children, Rick (Roseanne) Bowery, Heather Perkins (Dominique Haiart), Tracey Harder (Crawford Parrott) and her adored grandchildren of which she was very proud, Jen (Tavis) Bodnarchuk, Lindsay Horsman (Kris Edwards), Sarah Bowery, Jesse Parrott, Shane Bowery and Cody Parrott. Sammie was especially proud to have been a member of The Daughter's of the Nile and a member and Past President of the Khartum Ladies Auxiliary. Until her stroke in 1995, Sammie was very active within these organizations and has since maintained the numerous friendships made during that time, in addition to the many friendships made during the years that she curled at the Assiniboine Memorial Curling Club. Both Sammie and Ron had so many cherished friendships which date back to their days together in high school and as both were only children, these friends were very much their brothers and sisters and therefore became the much loved, surrogate aunts and uncles to the Bowery children. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. G. F. Borrett and the nursing staff of the Grace Hospital for the kindness and care given to Sammie and the care and consideration shown to her family and friends during the last couple of weeks. You raised your family with love, kindness and an abundance of laughter. We will miss you always Mom, but we know your place is with the man you've loved for so very many years. Your pain is finally over and now you can rest peacefully with Dad and laugh at his many jokes. According to Sammie's wishes, cremation has already taken place. There will be a celebration of Sammie's life, held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, at Thomson in the Park Funeral Home, located at 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, the family would gratefully appreciate that donations in Sammie's name be made to either the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a to a charity of your choice.
