MARINA ADRIANA BOUCHARD Marina Adriana Bouchard, 56, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2007, in her Overland Park, Kansas home. Marina was born on July 28, 1950, in The Hague, Netherlands to Cornelis Richard and Margaretha Maria Alice de Ruyter de Wildt. She met her husband of 18 years, Gilles Eugene Joseph Bouchard, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, before they moved to the United States together in 1982. They had two children: Richard Robert Leo Arthur Bouchard and Christina Kathryn Bouchard. Her husband, Gilles, passed away on the day that their children were sworn in as United States citizens in 1996. Marina later earned her Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from Rockhurst University, then worked as an Occupational Therapist for 11 years at the Children's Therapeutic Learning Centre (TLC). Marina loved tending her charming backyard pond, nurturing her several pets, and completing her own home remodeling projects. She had a blunt, straightforward charm with a sarcastic sense of humour and a playful lilt in her voice. Over the course of her life, Marina played a variety of influential roles. She graciously lived as a dedicated mother, a devoted wife, a loving grandmother, a compassionate co-worker, a caring neighbour, and a loyal friend. Marina leaves behind her son, Richard Bouchard, of Durham, North Carolina, her daughter, Christina Bouchard, of Los Angeles, California, and her sister and best friend, Ankie Rhijnsburger, of The Hague, Netherlands. She also leaves behind stepson Paul Bouchard, his wife Brooke, and their children, Kate and Alex; stepson Robert Bouchard, his wife Louise Gauthier, and their children, Christian and Pascale; and stepson Charles Chuck Bouchard, and his girlfriend Jennifer Gulenchyn, all of Winnipeg, Manitoba, as well as her wonderful Catalina neighbours, her dear Dutch friends, and her beloved TLC family. She will be truly missed and perpetually remembered. A memorial service to celebrate Marinas life was held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, February 26 at the All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church (4501 Walnut St., Kansas City, MO 64111). Following the memorial service, a reception was held at 3508 W 64th St., Mission Hills, KS 66208. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Children's Therapeutic Learning Center/Easter Seals (3101 Main St., Kansas City, MO 64111).
