ALBERT (BERT) BOURGEOIS July 14, 1924 March 2, 2007 Albert Bourgeois passed away peacefully on March 2, 2007 at the age of 82 years. He leaves to mourn his children, Gisèle (Randy) Law, Lynette (Roland) Chartier, Raymond, René (Lisa Seppela) and Doris (Vern) Nelson and his six grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Aimé and Gérard; his sisters, Marie, Jeanne, and Cécile, and numerous other relatives and friends. Albert was predeceased by his wife Vernette in 2004; his brother Euclid; his sisters, Augustine and Hélène; and his granddaughter Chantalle. Albert was born in Bellegarde, SK where a farming accident at the age of 22 put an end to a promising baseball career. Albert spent most of his adult life in Winnipeg where he owned an independent service station; the fact that this was located next door to home meant that he was there for lunch every day and was always available when we needed him. After his retirement, he and Vernette moved to Ontario to his dream job as caretaker of Clearwater Condos where he could indulge his love of fishing and of the outdoors. His last years were spent in Winnipeg where he enjoyed his grandchildren, playing cards, and watching the former Montreal Expos and his beloved Montreal Canadiens on TV. The family would like to thank the incredible staff at the Sharon Home for their caring and compassion as Dad's dementia worsened. A special thank you to Jenny who could always make Dad smile. Prayers will be said Monday, March 5th at 7:30 p.m. at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Desmeurons St. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, March 6 at 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald, with Father Ron Léger, C.S.V. presiding. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Unit 10, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg MB R3C 4G2.
