MAXINE OWNA BOOMER (nee BURGOYNE) Maxine Owna Boomer (nee Burgoyne) passed away Sunday evening, March 11, 2007, at Concordia Hospital. She was predeceased by her mother Owna Blanche Burgoyne, father Frederick Hilaire Burgoyne, brothers: Frederick Hilaire and John Charles. The cherished wife of Robert Boomer and the beloved mother of Christine Honey Stewart, Suzanne, Sherry Bennett (Bo), Terry (Carmalita), Michael (Marilyn), Danny, Marie (Craig), Colleen (Clarence), son-in-law Peter Stewart and loving family friend Brian Griffiths. Maxine is also lovingly remembered by 15 grandchildren: Maegan, Cameron, Jennie, Heath, Raena, Dana, Robert, Michael, Allison, Patrick, Jason, Carly, Tess, Graeme, Quinn and seven great-grandchildren: Madison, Bailey, Jack, Logan, Ashton, Jaden, Brooklyn. Born in Halifax on February 20, 1920, Maxine and her parents moved to St. Boniface where she grew up and went to school. She also spent much happy time working (during the Second World War) and living at her cottage at Grand Beach. Until only a few years ago, Maxine and Bob travelled and camped across Canada in their VW van which inspired her to paint and create. Maxine was an indomitable, loving woman who loved her family above all. An accomplished artist, photographer, gardener and avid animal lover, she lived the full spectrum of life with amazing energy and grace. She will be remembered by her fellow artists at the Forum Art Institute for her wonderful talent and by the congregation at Immanuel United Church for her humanity and strength. Many special thanks to longtime friends and neighbours, June Cameron and Bill and Grace Walker and to very special nurses and caregivers at Concordia Hospital - Brenda, Anna, Sofea, Marcy, Wesley, José and Tess. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 14 at 3:00 p.m. in Immanuel United Church, 755 Golspie St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maxine's memory to Forum Art Institute, 120 Eugenie St. When you walk through a storm Hold your head up high And don't be afraid of the dark At the end of a storm is a golden sky And the sweet silver song of a lark Walk on through the wind Walk on through the rain Though your dreams Be tossed and blown Walk on Walk on With hope in your heart And you'll never walk alone You'll never walk alone.
