Leonore was born May 20, 1919, to Jim Blair and Ethel (Myers) Blair on the farm at Ochre River. Leonore grew up in family home that included not only her parents and siblings, but a stepgreat-grandmother and a grandfather. She was also a teenager during the Great Depression of the 1930s. These experiences had a profound impact on her and she resolved to never be dependent on anyone. She attended teacher training and taught school from 1938 to 1942. She then trained as a Registered Nurse, graduating in 1946, and continued her nursing career in various capacities until 1961. She then changed careers, working for the Province of Manitoba for another 23 years, retiring at the age of 65 in 1984. In retirement Leonore devoted her time to her family and friends, enjoying every opportunity for a visit or a game of bridge. She especially loved to talk on the telephone, and would often call at whatever time of the day or night she wanted to discuss something. Leonore was predeceased by her husband Bob Strang and their son Tom, her parents Jim and Ethel Blair, her brothers Bob Blair and Gordon Blair, and her sister Florence Turnbull. She is survived by her sister Marion (Ted Crabtree), her son Malcolm Strang (Heather Agnew), her daughter-in-law Pat Strang / Noschese (Alphonse) and six grandchildren, John Strang, Ryan Strang, Kevin Strang, Jennifer Agnew, Elizabeth Agnew, and Joe Agnew. A memorial service will be held at Dauphin United Church, Friday, August 24, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire, a memorial donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, or to a charity of one's choice.
