RITA MARIE BOSTON (nee CYR) The day has come to celebrate the life of a modern day saint. It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Rita Boston, on September 14, 2007, at the age of 76, surrounded by loved ones in the comfort of her beautiful room at Riverview. Cherished mother of Guy (Roxanne) Boston of Edmonton; Dianne (Gary) Nyp of Kitchener, Ontario; Richard Boston of Edmonton. Much loved grandmother of Taryn (Josh Semchuk) and Daniel Boston (Edmonton); Trevor Nyp, step-grandchildren, Lindsay (Bobby) and their children Jordan and Brooklyn McConnell; Adam (Krista) and their daughter Kayla Nyp; and Jason Nyp (Kitchener). Loving sister to Ray (Anita) Cyr; Annette Tomlinson; Ella (Bill) Saydak; Lucy Thurston; Helene (Pat) Bulger; Aggie (Zeke) LaCoste; Paul Cyr (Winnipeg); Flo Patrick (Edmonton); Jean (Yolande) Cyr (Ottawa); Marcel (Amy) Cyr (Michigan); Louis (Sandra) Cyr (Pickering); Rollie (Marilyn) Cyr (Calgary). Predeceased by her husband Monte; parents, Benoni and Juliette (nee Guichon) Cyr; her brother Rene and brothers-in-law Norm Tomlinson and Jim Thurston. Rita will be missed by countless nieces and nephews and their children who enjoyed her spirited attendance (and special treats) at all family occasions. Rita was involved with many worthwhile organizations and causes over her lifetime. From being one of the founding members of Pollution Probe in Toronto in the 1960s, to chairman of Women's Model Parliament in Winnipeg in the 1970s and her lifelong commitment to Holy Cross Parish and the Catholic Church. Winnipeg has benefited from Rita's dedication and commitment in more ways than can be expressed. Rita's love of music was a constant in every aspect of her life - from performing many Gilbert and Sullivan operettas with the Montreal Operetta Society to creation of a Diocesan choir here in Winnipeg; directing, playing organ and gladly sharing her talent at weddings and funerals. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, travelling, bridge games and her coffee hangouts. She maintained her wit, perspective and sincere expression of love in brief and quiet phrases until the very end. Her cheerful, amiable and easy manner with people will be sorely missed. We would like to extend special thanks to those who assisted with quality care giving and communications to us throughout her illness; Loving appreciation to all her sisters, brothers, in-laws and friends who comforted Rita as we would have. You all provided us with comfort and strength to endure. Her journey home was filled with love Many thanks to cousin Michelle and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority who made it possible for Mom to stay in the comfort of her home as long as possible along with all the wonderful staff at the Riverview Palliative Care Unit. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Rita's life with her family at a prayer vigil at Holy Cross Parish, 252 Dubuc Street, on Monday, September 17, at 7:00 p.m. and the funeral mass on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. also at Holy Cross Parish.
