ROSALIE BOLLENBACH (WEITZEL)
Born: Jan 08, 1923
Date of Passing: Oct 05, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSALIE BOLLENBACH (nee WEITZEL) With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Rosalie, devoted mother and grandmother on October 5, 2007. She lives on in the hearts of her daughter Joanne; son-in-law Richard; daughter-in-law Nancy, and grandchildren, Pamela and Cynthia Martin, and Errin and Steven Bollenback. Rosalie was predeceased by her beloved husband Gus; son Glenn; parents, Johann Jacob and Anna Weitzel; brothers, Jack Sr., Waldemar, Jack Jr., Victor and sister Emily Schaefer. She is survived by her brothers, Albert (Noreen), Harold (Clara); sister Marlene Swanson (Eric), sister-in-law Doreen, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Rosalie was born January 8, 1923 and raised in Winnipeg's north end, attending Faraday and Isaac Newton schools. On a Valentine's church group outing in February 1940, she met the dapper Gus Bollenbach and they married August 2, 1941. (Just before Dad's death in August 2005, they commemorated 64 years of partnership together.) Shortly after their marriage, Gus received his military assignment. During his four and one half year deployment, Rosalie worked for her sister Emily and brother-in-law Arthur as a housekeeper and nanny to their young sons. Mom had a very deep and everlasting affection for her special boys and their maturation and life achievements brought her happiness. Rosalie's greatest source of joy came from the relationships she shared with her four grandchildren, known as her precious lambs. She was an excellent role model to them, and as they grew, they came to know and appreciate her strength of character, integrity and unconditional love. They also benefited from her beautiful knitting skills and culinary talents. Rosalie was a devout Christian. She was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where she cherished her church community and rejoiced in her faith. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Fatoye and staff at Seven Oaks Hospital and to all the home care workers who attended to Mom. We are very grateful to Pastor Bill, and to Mom's family, her friends and neighbours, former neighbours, church family and to her faithful Transcona Kids for all the home and hospital visits. A service of remembrance will be held from St. John's Lutheran Church, 370 McKenzie St. on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at 1:00 p.m with Rev. William (Bill) Lehman officiating. Rosalie will be laid to rest at Brookside Cemetery beside her loving husband. Rosalie: gentle spirit, warm and giving heart, courageous soul. Arrangements entrusted to KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 Henderson Hwy. 338-0331 www.klassenfuneralhome.com Life stories may be shared with friends and family across the globe at www.mem.com.
