Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN RICHARD (DICK) BRASHER In the early hours of Sunday, November 18, 2007, John Richard (J.R./Dick) Brasher passed away peacefully with his family at his side at age 83. Dick lived a full, active life and was predeceased by his father (Samuel), his mother (Albertine) his brother Samuel and his sister Mary. He is warmly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Marie, his son Richard (Paulette), daughter Susan (Martin), grandchildren Tara (Chris), Jason, Madeline and Emma and his great-grandson Spencer. Dick was born in the small eastern Manitoba station-stop of Decimal and worked for 43 years as a station-agent for the Canadian National Railroad throughout northwestern Ontario and Manitoba. After retiring from the railroad Dick taught several hundred young Manitobans to drive as a student driving instructor and was constantly inspired by their youthful enthusiasm. Dick had a life-long love of carpentry and building of all sorts. He was also a long-time student of politics, a keen observer of financial markets and always had a soft spot for young children. His family would like to specially thank the nurses, nursing assistants and staff at Riverview Health Centre for their compassionate and professional care allowing Dick a dignified, comfortable passing. A memorial service conducted by Sister Rose Desrochers S.N.J.M. is to be held Thursday, November 22 at 7:00 p.m. at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 DesMeurons. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Dick's memory to Riverview Health Centre or the Winnipeg Humane Society.
