EDWARD BOORSMA On November 19, 2007 at Concordia Hospital, Ed Boorsma of Winnipeg went to his eternal rest. Ed was married to his loving wife Evelyn (van Kalsbeek) for 53 years. Caring father to John and Lynda, grandfather to Kristy (Dan) Horneman of Edmonton, Denise and Neil, and great-grandfather to Reuben, brother to Mellie (Enno) van Leersum, and Arie, both of The Netherlands, brother-in-law to Frances (John) Jeninga, Herman van Kalsbeek of Winnipeg, Greet Croes of The Netherlands, Rita (Co) Gysbertsen of Maple Grove BC, Roloef Zwiers of The Netherlands, Herman (Mary) Zwiers of Winnipeg and Ria Zwiers of The Netherlands. Ed was born in Oostermeer, The Netherlands on April 7, 1930 to parents Jouke and Grietje. He immigrated to Canada in 1954. During his working career he was employed by Hart Equipment, Robinson Little, Canadian Wheat Board, Canada Packers, Rodell Corp., Western Smallwears, Winnipeg School Division #1 and retired in 1990. Many hours were spent working on the board for both the Transcona Credit Union and A.R.C.I.A. as a member or president. Ed was a faithful and active member of Transcona Christian Reformed Church for the past 53 years. The family would like to thank the staff of Concordia Hospital for their care and compassion during his time there. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 23, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Transcona Christian Reformed Church, 131 Victoria Ave. W. A private family interment will be held at Green Acres Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations can be made in Ed's name to Calvin Christian School, 245 Sutton Ave. Winnipeg, MB.
