FLORENCE MILITAIRE On Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at the Central Park Lodge in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Florence Militaire aged 96 years. Baptized as Florence Catherine Mima Ruth; she was the second youngest child of Roger and Celina Militaire. She was born in Carman, Manitoba in 1911. She worked for private families in Carman at a young age and also worked in the Carman Hospital in housekeeping. She later came to Winnipeg and worked in housekeeping at the Misericordia Hospital, the Marlborough Hotel and the Fort Garry Hotel where she worked until her retirement. Auntie Bobbie as she was known to family was a good daughter to her parents and a good sister to her five siblings who have all predeceased her. Auntie Bobbie did beautiful handwork, knitting, crochet work and embroidering and won several prizes for her work at the Carman Fair Craft shows. She was very active with the Secular Franciscan Order. This involvement was very important to her and she enjoyed the friendships she made there. Who among the nieces and nephews, relatives and friends can forget Auntie Bobbie's New Years dinners which she hosted well into her eighties. Thank you Aunt Bobbie for being in our lives. We love you. She was predeceased by her parents Roger and Celina Militaire, by three brothers, Louis, Amos and Henry Militaire, and by two sisters Elizabeth Proulx and Carrie McIvor. Prayers will be said at St. Mary's Cathedral, 353 St. Mary Ave. in Winnipeg on Monday, December 17, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. with Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. A graveside service will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Carman on Monday, December 17, at 12:30 p.m. and a fellowship lunch will follow at Doyle's Funeral Chapel in Carman. The family wishes to extend a sincere thanks to the staff on the 8th floor of the Central Park Lodge for the care and kindness given to Florence during her stay.
