ERNA FRIESEN (nee DYCK) (1914 2008) On Sunday, February 10, 2008, Erna Friesen passed away at her home in Winnipeg. Erna was predeceased by her beloved husband Peter, her sister Helen Dyck, and brother Herman Dyck. She is survived by her two daughters, Elenore (Ron Baylis), and Eliesabeth (Ted Vensel). She was born in Slawgorod, Siberia, and immigrated to Canada in 1925. She worked in Winnipeg until her marriage in 1940, and then became a mother, and an excellent homemaker. She loved baking, gardening, sewing, and handwork such as embroidery and crochet. She was a faithful member of the North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church. She enjoyed service activities in the Ladies' Fellowship, and friendships made there. She will be deeply missed by family, friends, and neighbours. A celebration of Erna's life will be held at the North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church, at Gateway and Springfield, on Tuesday, February 19 at 10:30 a.m. Viewing at the church at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Steinbach.
