I live in Collingwood, Ontario and yesterday I bumped into a couple that were from Charleswood. I asked if they knew Willie and Bernie and they told me of Bernie's passing. I was so saddened to hear as I too played on that Wrigley team and one of my fondest memories was Bernie screaming with excitement in the dressing room in Moncton, NB. Something I will never forget and when I close my eyes I can picture him. Sorry for your loss he was such an inspiration and a GREAT team mate. - Posted by: Bruce Melhuish (Team mate) on: Oct 26, 2022

2014 Like all kids from Charleswood, hockey brought everyone together at Roblin Park for the Saturday shinny games. I had the privilege of becoming distance friends with Bernie [and Willie] back in my Charleswood days and I am so shocked and saddened to learn of Bernie's passing. My Saturday morning shinny (pick-up hockey) memories with everyone and the Bowey brothers remain as some of my fondest. Heartfelt condolences go to Willie, Kim, his children. Thinking of the families of Bernie and Willie during this Christmas season. I can't help but think of my good friends as I follow Willie and Pam's son Madison's journey in his hockey life. I was a 16 year old who felt out of place when I moved alone to Winnipeg to play hockey with the AAA Monarchs. The memory of that championship season is also one of my fondest, what I remember most about that season is celebrating after our win at the Civic Center in the dressing room with Willie and Bernie. It is because of Willie and Bernie's character and their willingness to reach out to help me that I was able to feel at home both as classmates at St. Paul's and teamates on the ice. They both became my best friends. Bernie, we all miss you and love you, we will see you again in God's time Mun. All the best to the entire Bowey family this Christmas season - can't wait for Boxing day - Go Canada and Go Madison - Posted by: Brian Harland (close friend of Bernie and Willie) on: Dec 22, 2014

To All Bernie's Family and Friends, It is with great sadness that I have heard of Bernie's passing! He was my younger brother Jamie's (Red) classmate and friend but I also had the privilige of knowing Bernie from the Charleswood and St Paul's connection. Though it has been many many years since I have seen him I feel the loss of this great man. May God and all his loved ones who went before him welcome him to heaven! - Posted by: Rick Benson (Friend) on: Jul 23, 2008
