MAURICE LEO BRABANT (Moe) January 4, 1931 - July 23, 2008 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of our dear Moe, on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 77 years. Moe was predeceased by his father Moise, his mother Emma and infant brother Henri. He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Pat, and their children: Gerry (Amanda), Danny (Cathy), Ray, Jackie Simard, Chrissy, grandchildren: Jason (Kaylee), Alexis (Josh), Ryan (Tiffany), Megan, Denis, and Emily, great-granddaughter Addison, brothers and sisters: Emile, Isobel (Noel) Mourant, Rev. Father David Brabant pss, Leonie (Jim) Olcen, numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Moe grew up in St. Vital. He married Patricia Neumann August 9, 1958. He attended Provencher Collegiate and graduated from Manitoba Teachers College 1951. His love of reading and learning led him to continue his studies eventually graduating with a B.A. from the U of M in 1988. Moe taught school for several years and moved into an administrative position in life insurance. Parish life was always very important to Moe. Upon retirement he spent months and then years in the building of the St. Emile Parish Hall and day chapel. Moe was very active all his life. In his early years he played football for the St. Vital Bulldogs and attended Air and Navy Cadets. He was Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus of the Norwood Council from 1967 to 1969. He loved travelling, square dancing and bowling. He was a great Jack of All Trades except in the kitchen! Cremation has taken place and Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 28, St. Emile Parish, 555 St. Anne's Road with Father David Brabant, and Father Rene Peeters celebrants. A private interment will be held at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens at a later date. Special thanks to the nurses and doctors of S.I.C.U at the Health Science Centre, for their compassionate care of Moe and his family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Moe to the Canadian Diabetes Association or charity of one's choice.
