ROGER DONALD WILLIAMS (DON) / (POPS) Suddenly, yet peacefully on August 13, 2008 at the Concordia Hospital Don passed away after a fierce but brave battle with cancer. Don was born on September 23, 1947 and grew up on a family farm in the Rookhurst District, 10 miles south of Minnedosa, MB. Left to cherish memories Don are his beloved wife of 39 years, Brenda; sons, Roger (Violet) and Ryan (Maureen); grandchildren, Bradley, Thomas, David, Emily, Kristina and Mark; siblings, Corrine (Gerry), Ralph, Calvin (Nettie); Brenda's siblings, Bernice (Tom), Jeff (Debbie) and Greg (Char). Additionally numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and a large group of good friends. Don and Brenda also had years with many pets and Sox and Syndars miss him terribly. Predeceased by his parents Horace and Anne Williams and Brenda's parents Tom and Mary Tarry. Don had enjoyed a variety of employment opportunities including a couple years on a mail run from Winnipeg to Pine Falls (which is when he met Brenda). He worked at Scott National for 11 years and for the last 25 years has been employed with Feed Rite until needing to take a medical leave due to his illness. In addition to his employment, Don loved to spend time on the family farm, in was true joy for him, especially his bees. The immediate family would like to sincerely thank the following people: special daughter and medical translator Teresa Holloway RN; cousin Carol and her worker bees (Grace, Brian, Brad, Bev) for all the work on the house in Winnipeg; Bob Byron at Feed Rite; Roy, Louise and Trisha Huzel for making endless phone calls, baking, trying to help and for simply being there; and to Cuddles who also helped with the house and took charge of the lawn care. Finally the family wants to express profound thanks to Dr. Pat Harris and her team at the Concordia Hospital Oncology Unit, especially Len Perry BWS, to Dr. Large for her support during the difficult journey, and to the staff on N3W in Concordia. Extra special thanks to the following: Donna LPN, Tracy RN, Chrissy LPN, Frances RN and of course the Health Care Aides who worked with Don during his hospital stay. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Minnedosa Funeral Service Chapel, 34 3rd Ave. SW, Minnedosa, MB with Memorial Service to follow in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Bill Doyle officiating. Interment to take place in the Minnedosa Cemetery. In lieu of flowers; Brenda, Roger, and Ryan would like donations made to a charity of choice. Also since it was a passion for Don, please plant a tree or a garden but mostly Don was a big contributor to the recycling program, so in his honour if you don't already please recycle. Minnedosa Funeral Service in care of arrangements. (204) 867-3868
