Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySISTER EVA BOLTON (SOEUR CHRISTINA) Filles de la Croix (Sisters of the Cross) September 1910 - December 2008 It is with sorrow that les Filles de la Croix announce the passing of Sister Eva Bolton (Soeur Christina) at Victoria Hospital on December 14 at the age of 98 and 75 years of religious profession. She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers, Ferdinand, Bernard, Francis, Leonard and her sisters, Marion, Virginia and Madeleine. She leaves to mourn her brothers, Charles, Norman and Victor and her two sisters, Margaret and Sister Kathleen Bolton, snd. Sister Eva was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on September 23, 1910 to Joseph Bolton and Hannah Olson. As she lost her mother at a very early age, many moves were demanded of her. She spent her school years in various locations: Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, Bismarck, North Dakota, Gravelbourg and Mathieu School in Laflèche, Saskatchewan and finally St-Adolphe in Manitoba where she came to know Les Filles de la Croix whom she had first met in Laflèche. She began her religious formation in 1931 and pronounced her vows in 1933 at La Puye, France. Sister Eva's main apostolate was teaching High School in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. She excelled in teaching Home Economics classes of cooking and sewing. She taught her students to strive for perfection. Being soft spoken, kind and respectful, she gained the hearts of all her students. Gifted, able to adapt to new situations, Sister served in many capacities, always ready to take on a key role as administrator, school principal or superior of her local community. In her later years, she was involved in pastoral ministry with prayer groups, catechism, CWL. Her presence was appreciated by all those with whom she journeyed in the parishes where she served. Who will forget her cooking abilities, which she shared so generously at Community events? Sister Eva loved life and enjoyed people. She cherished the company of many friends and Sisters. How she enjoyed a good game of Yahtzee! She remained close to her mother ever grateful that she could spend time with her before her death. Indeed her whole family was very dear to her and the family gatherings for her birthdays proved the highlight of the last years of her life. Sister Eva loved God's creation, flowers, especially roses, house plants which she treated with great care, animals and birds she enjoyed feeding. A woman of deep faith, she found solace in prayer, in the Eucharist and in quiet moments of spiritual reading. Above all, she cherished the Word of God which she enthusiastically shared in her Bible Study groups. The family and the Sisters wish to thank the staffs of the Provincial House and of the Golden Door Geriatric Center for the loving care given to Sister Eva in the last years of her life. We are also very grateful for the compassion and care received at Victoria General Hospital from a dedicated and competent staff. Prayers for Sister Eva Bolton will be held on Tuesday, December 16 at 7:00 p.m. at the Provincial House of Les Filles de la Croix, 66 Moore Avenue, Winnipeg. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 17 at 1:30 p.m. Reverend Father Fernand Desjardins will be presiding. Interment in St. Adolphe, Manitoba, will follow. Sister Eva was my aunt and the kindest person that I know. In my life, I never heard her disagree with anyone, let alone reveal any form of temper. So, when they write that she was soft-spoken and kind, that is an enormous understatement of one of God's best women. I love you Aunt Eva, and cannot wait to embrace you anew. - Posted by: Andrew Bolton (nephew) on: Oct 09, 2024
