ALBERT BRAHA A man of courage, strength, constant charity, and great integrity, passed away, in Montreal, on Thursday, December 11, 2008. Cherished father and father-in-law of Gino and Carol, Linda and Issie; much loved grandfather of Lori (Michael), Robyn, Andrea, Marisa (Peter), Jason, and Tara; and, whose memory is also cherished by his sister-in-law Regine Frankel. Albert was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Emilia; his parents; all of his nine brothers and sisters; and his brothers-in-law, Emmanuel and Pascal Frankel. With his passing comes the end of an era --- that generation of parents who are all gone now, closing quite a chapter in our family's history. Born in Cairo, Egypt, Albert would live an active youth and much of his adulthood among a large community of family and circle of friends. He began work at the age of 13 when, upon the death of his father, he assumed the responsibilities of the man of the house helping to support his mother, brothers, and sisters. He, eventually, achieved the pinnacle of his work career becoming head of a successful cosmetics manufacturing firm in Egypt, a subsidiary of a British-American corporation. The events of the 1956 Suez War would eventually see him at middle-age make the very difficult, but brave, and what would eventually turn out to be the rightful, decision of giving up much of what he had accomplished, and departing from friends and relatives, to ensure a more promising and secure future for his family, in Canada. After moving to Canada, Albert pursued a professional career as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative until his retirement. He lived a humble, simple life, shared a substantial portion of his modest income with many charitable organizations, and always demonstrated through action, a significant cordiality and respect for others. Internment has taken place in Montreal. Pallbearers were Dr. Issie Wyszogrodski, Eddie Wyszogrodski, Dr. Jason Wyse, Dr. Jonathan Wyse, Michael Berskon, Peter Hawkings, Jerry Mariasine, and Jerry Turowetz. Our family would like to thank all the wonderful, dedicated caregivers of the Mount Sinai Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Montreal. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Albert's memory to the Palliative Care Unit, Mount Sinai Hospital, 5690 Boulevard Cavendish, Cote-St-Luc, Quebec, H4W 1S7, or to The Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch, Suite 1, 452 Dovercourt Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3Y 1G4. May he find eternal peace. We will miss him greatly and he will be forever loved in our hearts.
