Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJONAS B. GOOSSEN It is with sadness that the family of Jonas B. Goossen announces his passing on April 5, 2009 in Steinbach, Manitoba., at the age of 86. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Irene; his children Gordon (Shirley) and Brenda; his grandchildren Charlene (Adolf) and Janice (Jeff); also great-grandchildren, Chris, Kyle, Adam and Lucas. He is also survived by brother Jack (Marlene) Froese and sister-in-law, Minna Goossen. He was predeceased by brother Albert and sisters Elvina and Helen. Jonas was born in Clearsprings, MB and lived out his life in Steinbach. He had a keen interest in the history and genealogy of his family and community. He was particularly proud of his achievements throughout his career as a Municipal Administrator. He served on the MMAA provincial executive for eight years and is an honorary life member of the association. Jonas was a lifelong sports fan, especially of curling, baseball and hockey. He skipped his curling teams to a number of bonspiel victories and he coached baseball in Steinbach for many years. Jonas loved meeting and getting to know people of all ages. His caring nature lead him into the role of care giver to many. His greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of whom he was very proud. He approached life with a great curiosity of what new adventure each day would bring even as he faced many adversities. A celebration of his life will be held at Steinbach United Church, 541 Main Street, Steinbach, MB, Thursday, April 9, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Steinbach United Church Memorial Fund, 541 Main Street, Steinbach, MB R5G 0L5.
