SANDRA GAIL MACLEOD (nee SIRACK) Sandy MacLeod, beloved wife and true life partner of Cliff, passed away on April 12, 2009 at Grace Hospital, just three weeks after being diagnosed with cancer. She is survived by daughters Kristin (Geoff) and Erin (Thom), son Ian (Glenys), and grandchildren Kylar, Duncan, Nicholas, and Campbell, brothers Bob and Bill Sirack, and sister Judy Towpich. She was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Ann Sirack, and by her sister Carol Chomokoski. An exceptional wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and mentor, she is mourned by a large circle of friends and colleagues who loved her deeply. Taken from all of us far too soon, she passed away peacefully, surrounded by family members. Born and raised in Winnipeg, she worked for several years after high school for the former Manitoba Telephone System, leaving in 1974 to raise her family. She realized her lifelong dream of becoming a Registered Nurse in 1982, working first in Misericordia Hospital in general surgery and later in labour and delivery. In 1991 she joined the Health Sciences Centre Dialysis Unit, retiring from there in September, 2007 as a Clinical Resource Nurse. Wise and caring, with an innate common sense and diplomacy, she was a person who inspired trust and love in others, with a gift for dealing with people and bringing order out of chaos. Many thanks to the nursing staff, and doctors at Grace Hospital for their excellent care. Thanks to Dr. John Milner, whose surgical skills gave Sandy almost three years of additional time with her grandchildren after her first occurrence of cancer. Sandy asked us to give special thanks to nurse Lois and Dr. Mighty of the 4th floor surgical ward of Grace Hospital for their special compassion and care. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has already taken place. A memorial celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Westminster United Church, 745 Westminster Ave., with a reception to follow. Flowers gratefully declined. If you wish, a donation can be made in her memory to CancerCare Manitoba., ON1160-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. CHAPEL LAWN 885-9715
