Carol was born in Aalsmeer, The Netherlands. She worked in the family green house business. During the war she was involved with ambulatory services as well as the underground . After the war she married Gerrit ten Berk de Boer. In July of 1953, along with their daughter, they immigrated to Canada and settled in Winnipeg. She was an excellent homemaker, operated a sewing business from her home and was involved in numerous volunteer ventures. She was a Girl Guide leader for many years. She's the lady who costumed all the dolls in the display and many of the Miss Holland participants.
