Chiko lived accross the back lane from my father, Ernie Parsons at 343 Machray Ave and they often enjoyed talking while doing work in their back yards. Back in 1975, Ernie wanted to build a fence in his back yard and Chiko recommended a concrete block fence and my dad was sold on the idea. Chico reccomended reinforced concrete piles c/w a footing to support the weight for that kind of fence. I (Ray Parsons) hand augered a number of pile holes with a neighbor (we were both 12 or 13 years old) then we dug the surface for the footing and helped tie in some steel, it took most of the summer. I remember Chiko and my dad hand mixing cement for quite some time until it was poured. 40 years later the fence is still solid. Ernest Parsons passed away less than a year ago and I have fond memories of Chiko and my Dad enjoying each other's company. Chiko loved everyone and believed in love of neighbor. In the Bible, God's son taught that God's kingdom would come (in the Lord's prayer), may the ressurection hope into Jehovahs kingdom bring comfort to Chiko's family, as it does for me. Sincerely, Ray Parsons - Posted by: Ray Parsons (Neighbor) on: Jan 22, 2015
