JEANNETTE PUJO PAINCHAUD BOTHOREL (nee Gauthier) January 20, 1918 - May 26, 2009 After a long and full life, our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away unexpectedly at her home at the age of 91 years. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Paul and Mary-Irene Pujo, Aline Pujo, Laurette Pujo, Donald and LaRay Pujo, Roger and Edith Pujo, Valerie Lalonde, Louise Pujo and Tim Hibbard, Marc Pujo and Debbie Karoly and step-children Claire Painchaud and Bernie Moore and Nicole Painchaud, 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by extended family members Zain Mohammed, Brenda Keyser and Peter Murdock and their children, May Painchaud, Jeannine Giasson, Jean and Jeanne Bothorel as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Jeannette was predeceased by her much loved siblings, Elzire, Delia, Georges, Berthe and Edmond. Jeannette was the sixth of eight children born to Hermina and Edouard Gauthier. When Jeannette was three, the family moved from Warroad, Minnesota where she was born to Woodridge, MB where they resided for nine years before transferring to Tawatinaw, Alberta. Mom often spoke of those three years in Alberta as the happiest times in her young life. Following Edouard's death, the family returned to Manitoba settling in St. Labre where Hermina could be close to family. In 1938, Jeannette married Maurice Pujo and together they had eight children, four boys and four girls who were raised primarily in Saint-Boniface. A devoted wife and mother, Jeannette enjoyed raising her large family but once the children were older she returned to school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked for 15 years with the elderly at the Taché Centre followed by almost five years at Villa Youville in St. Anne, MB. In 1978, Maurice passed away and Jeannette returned to Saint-Boniface. Jeannette's vivaciousness soon caught the attention of Antoine Painchaud who married her in 1980 and they shared a good life filled with family and friends until Antoine's passing in 1987. Seven years later and much to her surprise another love entered Jeannette's life and she and Julien Bothorel were married in 1994. While 18 years her junior, Julien was hard pressed to keep up with her energy and they enjoyed almost ten years together. Jeannette was heartbroken when Julien died unexpectedly in 2004 and the following years were difficult as she adjusted once again to being on her own. Jeannette was grateful to have been able to live independently right up until last year when she moved into Catherine Place where she made friends and was very happy. She was proud of being able to walk without assistance and was not pleased when in March of this year she was persuaded to use a walker. Jeannette had a generous spirit and a love of life that was infectious. She will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank Dr. Nadine Fontigny and her staff at the Saint-Boniface Clinic for their caring and kindness and to the staff at Catherine Place for their support. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice are welcomed. Funeral Mass will be held at the Saint-Boniface Cathedral, 190 avenue de la Cathédrale, on Tuesday, June 2 at 10:30 a.m. Interment of the cremated remains will take place at Green Acres Memorial Gardens. DESJARDINS 233-4949 1-888-233-4949 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolences at www.desjardins-funeral.ca
