MANYA (JOY) GARDNER (nee SAVINKOFF) It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Joy on May 29, 2009. Born Manya Savinkoff in Canora, Saskatchewan December 9, 1927. Left to mourn are her husband Tony of 60 years; daughter Angela (Vernon), son Marc (Teresa); grandchildren Veronica (Tim), Bryan, Stefano and Toni; great-granddaughter Zarya; sister Beth Thoroski; brothers-in-law Jim Gardner and Ray Hargraves; numerous nieces and nephews. Joy had a passion for painting, photography, writing and a taste for great cooking. She also enjoyed curling for many years. Joy loved to fish, and spent many happy days at the cottage with family and friends. Joy will be remembered in our hearts forever as a kind, sensitive, loving and generous person who always placed her family first. We are forever thankful to all of the people who helped care for Joy during her illness. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 3 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joy's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Canada. Joy helps us to find solace through her writing: FOREVER IN MY HEART Don't cry, dear heart, Don't weep for me. My life was full. There are no regrets I lived and loved. I sang and danced, and laughed with glee. Pain and tears, are no stranger to me. Life is love and feeling, Death is a new beginning. Don't weep, dear one, Rejoice for me. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Tony and Family Although I never met your wife or Mother, through my periodic coffee meetings at the hotel I do know what the past years have been like for her and for you. Unfortunately this is a part of life that we all must bear but I know that you all did all you could during this time of struggle. Rest in the good memories. - Posted by: Jim Baker (Family) on: Jun 12, 2009
