ROBERT HILL Sunset and evening star, And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar, When I put out to sea. After a life well lived, Bob left us willingly on his 96th birthday, May 30, 2009. Robert Louis Hill was born to Alf and Nina, May 30, 1913. He grew up in West Kildonan, and spent his working years as a letter carrier in Winnipeg. He married Violet Evans in 1946, and she predeceased him in September 1987. They were good neighbours, with many friends in East Kildonan. They were blessed with one daughter, Roberta, who was predeceased by her husband, Dewight Beach. He is also survived by his grandsons, Kevin Beach (Texas) and Kurtis Beach (Winnipeg), as well as his sister, Grace Hill. He was also an influence in the life of his three foster daughters, Kathy, Maria, and Shirley. Bob was a man of many interests, and never stopped reading and learning. His talents included woodworking, gardening, and music, and he was always willing to lend a hand to a neighbour. He had a lifelong love of animals, and was seldom found without a dog treat in his pocket. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 5, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., with interment to follow.
