Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryADINA BOSCHMANN (nee SCHROEDER) Adina Boschmann (nee Schroeder) of Stuartburn, Manitoba, was born on April 19, 1922 at Dobry Kut in the Ukraine. She died on June 28, 2009 in the Vita Personal Care Home. She was predeceased by her parents, five brothers and one sister. She is survived by her husband Diedrich, two sons, Ewald (Janet) their children Christin, Eric (Carissa) and Kathryn, Irvin (Linda), two sisters, one brother and many nieces and nephews. Adina's early youth was spent on their family's farm. At the age of nine their family was deported to Siberia. The siblings and their mother returned to their home area but her father was one the many millions who died during this time. The Schroeder siblings survived the Ukrainian famine through their resourcefulness and their complete loyalty to each other. During the war, Adina and her family went to Germany. In 1949, Adina decided to emigrate to Canada where she met Diedrich. They were married on June 10, 1951. They lived and worked together on their farm until she suffered a stroke in March 2007. From then she resided in the Vita Personal Care Home until her death. Adina loved cooking, baking, and canning the produce of her enormous garden. She worked hard and tirelessly in the house and the fields. She could not tolerate visitors leaving without a home cooked meal. The farm was a favourite summer vacation spot for her nephews and nieces. She loved to have the grandchildren stay over, feed them, and teach them her household skills. She and Diedrich joined the Stuartburn Gospel Chapel in 1951 where they attended regularly until her stroke. She would spend many winter evenings knitting and reading her German Bible. Adina never really adjusted to being confined to a wheelchair. During her two year stay at the Personal Care Home, Diedrich visited and stayed with her almost every day. Our family is deeply thankful for her life with us. We miss her greatly but her influence and our memories of her will be us in the years and decades ahead. Our family would like to thank the nurses, aides, and support staff of the Vita Personal Care Home for the care and attention they gave to her needs during her stay there. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at the Stuartburn Gospel Chapel, Stuartburn, Manitoba at 2:00 p.m. with viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in the Grace Cemetery, Stuartburn, Manitoba Vita Funeral Homes Vita Chapel in care of arrangements (204) 425 3114.
