MARGARITA PETERS (nee QUINTANA) June 10, 1931 October 24, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margarita Peters, on Saturday, October 24, after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 78. She was predeceased by her husband Isaac Peters and her children, Blanca Estela and Jaime Rene. She will be greatly missed by her children, Sergio, Fernando, Oscar, Irma, Margarita, Maria, Isaac and Christina and spouses, siblings Armando, Guillermo, Pilar and Teresa, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Margarita was raised in rural Mexico where she learned the value of hard work at a young age. Still, she was able to bring joy to her community with her wonderful singing voice and was asked to perform many serenades during her youth. As a mother and grandmother, she brought the family together to enjoy many of her famous Mexican meals. Most to be admired, however, was her resilient nature, her inner strength and her sense of humour. Tita will be sadly missed by all who loved and knew her. A special thanks to all the staff and volunteers at Jocelyn House for their compassionate care. Funeral service will be held at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway Avenue at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment immediately after at Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Avenue.
