JOHN BOTELHO JOAO ARRUDA BOTELHO It is with great sadness we announce the passing of John Botelho on Monday, August 16, 2010 at 80 years of age. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ilda, daughters Julieta (Franco) and Betty (Roger), grandchildren Dino, Franca, Samantha and Bradley. He is also survived by his sister Maria Cabral and many nephews and nieces. John was born on April 26, 1930 in Sao Miguel, Acores, Portugal. He came to Canada in 1957 to make a new life for his family. He worked throughout his life in construction allowing him to start his own Contracting Business in 1974, doing sewer and water. At the same time, he held a full time job at the University of Manitoba until his retirement. John loved gardening and sharing his vegetables with friends, family and people who passed by. He loved to tinker around the house fixing many things. He loved family especially his grandchildren which gave him much joy. Vigil Prayers will be held Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, August 20, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. Reverend Father Sam Argenziano celebrant. Interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street. Reception will be held in the Mosaic Funeral Chapel, 1839 Inkster Blvd., following the Interment. Special thanks to Dr. Marvin Slutchuk who took great care of him through his last years. Special thanks also to Dr. J. Horton and all the staff of HSC-MICU and HSC-4A for their care during his final days In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cancer Care Foundation, 675 McDermot Ave. R3E 0V9 or the Canadian Diabetes Assoc.
