IRENE GOOSSEN August 14, 1924 - November 28, 2010 It is with sadness that the family of Irene N. Goossen (nee Zolondek) announces her passing on November 28, 2010 in Steinbach, Manitoba, at the age of 86. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Jonas B. Goossen and by her brothers Adolph, Clarence, and David Zolondek. She is survived by her children Gordon (Shirley) and Brenda; her grandchildren Charlene (Adolf) and Janice (Jeff); also great-grandchildren Chris, Kyle, Adam and Lucas. She is also survived by her sister Alice Buhay and sisters-in-law Lorette and Marion Zolondek. Irene grew up in Milner Ridge and Lac du Bonnet and lived most of her adult life in Steinbach. Irene enjoyed the simple things in life such as using her creative talents in gardening, crafting, and cooking great meals for family and friends. She particularly enjoyed spending time with children and was also known by her friends for thoughtful acts of kindness. She did these things while living with major depression which she battled with great courage and resilience for much of her adult life. A celebration of her life will be held at Steinbach United Church, 541 Main Street, Steinbach, Manitoba on Friday, December 3, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. with ash interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Steinbach United Church Memorial Fund, 541 Main Street, Steinbach, MB R5G 0L5 or a charity of your choice.
