Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNORA BOTTERILL On Wednesday, December 1, 2010 Nora passed away at the Riverview Health Centre. Nora is survived by her beloved husband Harry, her children Jim (June), Carol (Robbie), Lorraine (Craig), Allyson (Drew), and grandchildren Marla, Andrea, Laura, Robin, Hadrian, Grant, Kara and Alanna. She was predeceased by her parents Ellen and Elvin Wood, and her brother Ronald Wood. Nora was born on December 20, 1921 and she grew up on the family dairy farm in Powerscourt, Quebec. At the age of 18, she moved to Winnipeg to live with her aunt and uncle, and attend business college. After completing her training, she worked briefly at Osler, Hammond and Nanton before joining the C.P.R. as the first female billing clerk in Winnipeg. There she met Harry, and they married on November 27, 1943. After Harry returned from serving overseas in the Royal Canadian Air Force, they settled in Winnipeg. Nora gladly dedicated her life to providing a happy home for her husband and children. A devoted wife and mother, she was happiest when surrounded by her family. Many memorable times were spent at the family cabin on Lee River. She took pleasure in cooking and baking for her family, was an avid reader, liked to knit and enjoyed crosswords and word puzzles. Nora loved to laugh and tease, and her beautiful smile will be remembered by all who knew her. Our family is very grateful for the wonderful care Nora was given during the past year at Harmony Court, Oakview Place and Riverview Health Centre. We met many angels on earth during the time she was in care, and we thank them all. A very special thank-you goes to the staff at Riverview Health Centre for their support and kindness to Nora and our family during the last difficult days. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, December 11 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or a charity of your choice.
