GERHARD MOHR Peacefully, after a brief illness, Gerhard Mohr passed away on December 18, 2010. He is survived by his daughter Ramona (Chris Beckman), sisters-in-law Evelyn Mohr, Maria Rauch, Rose Rauch, and Hilda (Rolf) Henning, brothers-in-law Frank Rauch and Bob Rauch, and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Gerhard was predeceased by his wife Frieda (nee Rauch), parents Marie and Otto Mohr, brother Walter Mohr, mother and father-in-law Maria and Josef Rauch, and brother-in-law Josef Rauch. Gerhard was born in Winnipeg on June 27, 1931, raised on the family farm east of Gunton, and attended Gunton School. He ran the family farm where he resided until moving to Red River Place in Selkirk in 1997. Gerhard enjoyed farming whether harvesting grain, raising pigs or helping with the sugarbeet harvest, but always found time to visit with family and neighbours or to read the local paper or, in his younger years, to go dancing with mom. Dad remembered with fondness his trips to northern Ontario, Montana and New York. He and Frieda spent many years caring for his mother, allowing her to live independently in her own house on the farm, for which we are forever grateful. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Red River Place for their care and compassion over these many years, and to staff at the Selkirk and Arborg hospitals. Memorial service will take place Monday, December 27 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Teulon. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to Red River Place Personal Care Home, Selkirk. May he rest in peace. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon in care of arrangements.
