KAREN YVONNE BRAZ March 13, 1958 - December 19, 2010 The immediate family of Karen Braz (nee Panko) would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all who walked with her on her final steps of life's journey. On the evening of December 19, 2010 Karen's life's voyage on earth ended and she embarked on a new adventure. Her new journey will offer renewed friendships and glorious experiences enveloped in the arms of God. Karen came into our world on March 13, 1958 in Hamilton, Ontario. Upon her arrival home from the hospital, her big brother felt it necessary to confirm that she had all 10 toes. Karen had the brightest blue green eyes and the tightest, curliest blonde hair you have ever seen. When the family moved to Portage we soon saw Karen everywhere with her new best friend, a Chatty Cathy doll that never left her side. When the family purchased a store and moved to Gladstone, Karen received a very special gift at the age of six, a lifelong friend, Cathy Macdonald. That friendship of 46 years allowed them to experience many of life's ups and downs together. Karen loved life, laughter and her family. She enjoyed spending time with her mother and father in the store. Karen was blessed with a loving brother Tony and a baby sister Shelly. She very much enjoyed the time she spent with them and their families. God gave Karen one nephew, four nieces and one great-nephew as well as many godchildren. Each child knew how special they were to her, through her loving gifts and the endless hours she would spend listening to their life's stories. While in Gladstone, Karen met Augie and soon started their 29 year life together in Winnipeg. It was in Winnipeg that Karen acquired Buster the dog. Buster was an important part of Karen's life and she would share many funny stories about him with anyone that would listen. Karen enjoyed a few small pleasures in life, a good bargain, the odd night out at the casino and an occasional chocolate bar. Karen was blessed with having a talent and career as a cake decorator at the IGA on Main Street. Her eyes would light up when the children would recognize her and say Mommy that's the Cake Lady A funeral service has been held. Karen, rest knowing that we love you and will miss you. LOVE, Mom and Dad Panko and Family.
