LEON ALCIDE BOULET It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Leon Boulet on January 8, 2011 at the age of 84. Leon was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children, Alice Fortier, an infant son Alain, a granddaughter Jennifer, his parents, Joseph and Emma; sister Philomène, brothers Elzear, Louis and Michel. He leaves to mourn, his present wife Adèle, his children Lorraine (Paul) Gervais, Rheal Ray (Donna), Pierrette (Pierre) Fortier, Cecile (Rick) Barrett, Alain (Jocelyne), Norman (Nadine), Daryl (Kristin). Grandchildren, Carmen (Rocky), Ryan, Kris (Jennifer), Tyler, Nicole (Shawn), Rachel, Daniel, Jordan, Sarah, Kyle and Eric and great-grandchildren, Alexander, Aiden, and Adria, Donavin, Abigail, Jason and Zyler. He also leaves to mourn Adèle's children, Marc and Michèle and grandchildren Devon and Bryce. Two sisters Therese and Marguerite; two brothers, Alexandre and Robert (Elvine) and a very large extended family. Leon was born in Dunrea, MB on April 5th, 1926. He was born and raised West of Dunrea on the family farm. He was educated by the oblate sisters at Sacred Heart School. He married Alice Fortier on October 8th, 1949. They raised their family on the farm until they moved to Portage la Prairie in 1967. Leon worked at the Manitoba Developmental Centre until 1989 when he retired. He presently lived in Winnipeg. Prayers and viewing will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Winnipeg at 7:00 p.m., 4588 Roblin Boulevard in Charleswood. Fellowship and refreshments with family to follow the prayers at the church hall. Funeral will be held at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 1125 Saskatchewan Avenue East, Portage la Prairie, on Friday, January 14, 2011. Viewing, fellowship and refreshments with family starting at 4:30 p.m. in the church hall followed by the funeral mass at 7:00 p.m. in the church. Both venues are wheelchair accessible. Cremation and private burial with the immediate family will be held at a later date. The family would like to say thank you to all of Dad's caregivers in Palliative Care at St. Boniface hospital who cared for Dad and to all who took time out of their busy schedules to drop by and say hello and give Dad a hug or two and for sharing a coffee, lunch and a chat with Dad and family. We really appreciated it. Thank you to Monseigneur Maurice Comeault and Father Eric Giddins for officiating at the prayers and funeral service. We also want to thank the Omega Funeral Home for their help and guidance through this difficult time.
