MARGERY CATHERINE (DAVIS) BOURGEOIS December 16, 1924 - January 12, 2011 We announce with deep sadness the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother at 9:30 in the morning on January 12, 2011. Margery was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba where she grew up and graduated from Gordon Bell High School in 1942. Predeceased by her mother, Miniota, and her elder sisters Evelyn and Doreen, she is survived by her younger brother D. George Davis of McLean, Virginia. In October 1941 through a mutual friend, she met Adelard (Addie) Bourgeois. They were married on April 26, 1944 in Saint Boniface Cathedral and shared a loving and devoted relationship of almost 67 years. She is survived by her daughter Roselle (Brian) of North Vancouver, Gregory of Burnaby, Ronald (Joyce) of Vancouver and Richard (Faye) of Toronto. Her three grand-children, Andrea Libman (Jeffrey), Philippe Bourgeois and Daniel Libman, as well as step-grandchildren Lindsey and Jeffrey Webster and young William Wallace, will greatly miss and lovingly remember her. Her early married life led her to Montreal, North Bay and Ottawa during the Second World War as Dad served as a Flying Officer in the RCAF. A mutual decision that her Addie should enrol in dentistry at the University of Toronto lead this young couple to run a rooming house in post war Toronto. Upon Addie's graduation the couple returned to Saint Boniface (Winnipeg) in 1951 where he practised dentistry until 1982 whereupon they retired to the West Coast. Our mother was not the stay at home type. She became the Chief Field Collector for the Manitoba Museum of Man and Nature and also contributed to Canadian Museum of Civilization. She was an avid antique collector, dealer and appraiser with a specialty in porcelain and English silverware. While raising her young brood; she was active executive with the Catholic Women's League in Holy Cross Parish and curled with the Heather Curling Club. Our family spent many a wondrous summer together at West Hawk Lake and later at the cabin we built on Storm Bay, Lake of the Woods. First residing in Duncan, then White Rock, Kerrisdale and Coquitlam; it is testimony to Mom and Dad that their children followed them to the Lower Mainland. Margery retained a lifelong affinity to bridge and sharing a good novel with the book club which resulted in her making friends all along her life's journey. A funeral mass is to be held in Coquitlam, at Saint Clare of Assisi, 1320 Johnson Street on January 19, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation in our mother's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society is most appreciated.
