ARTHUR ALFRED BOETTCHER 1929 - 2011 After a lengthy illness passed away peacefully at Seven Oaks Hospital on April 16, 2011. Arthur immigrated to Canada alone initially in May of 1955, arriving in Montreal, and travelled to Winnipeg where be became employed by CN Rail working in Churchill, MB, building rail lines. At that time Arthur worked to save up enough funds to bring his wife and son to join him to live in Canada. He brought his family over in October of the same year. The family decided to live in Winnipeg, and that is where he worked his entire life, as a barber by trade, working in the business district in downtown Winnipeg near Portage and Main. Arthur retired in 2001. In Germany, as a young boy Arthur was interested in listening to and playing classical music, and was offered the opportunity to attend a music conservatory, but the Second World War erased that dream. During his married life he mainly focused on working, and establishing himself in his trade. He did not have many other interests, and lead a quiet, simple life. Left behind to continue celebrating life is his dedicated wife Anne, and his two sons Manfred and Michael, daughter-in-law Brenda, two grandchildren Rob and Kelsey, his sister-in-law Gerda, and numerous nieces and nephews, both in Winnipeg and Germany. Arthur was predeceased by his parents, brother and sister, brother-in-law Albert, mother-in-law Gertrude, and nephew Danny. A big thank you to the medical staff of the third and fourth floors at the Seven Oaks General Hospital. A special thank you to Dr. Patel for his compassion and guidance during Arthur's care. Cremation and a private gathering with immediate family only has taken place, as per Arthur's wishes. The very helpful expertise of the Cropo Funeral staff was also greatly appreciated. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Arthur's remembrance to the charity of your choice.
