CATALINA (NENA) DE BORJA November 25, 1925 - July 6, 2011 Peacefully on July 6, 2011 at Grace Hospital, Nena de Borja passed away at the age of 85. She was predeceased by her parents (Ana and Raymundo Tubis), husband (Col. Juanito), and older brother (Ninoy) and will be deeply missed by her children Willie (Charito), Annabelle (Nonette), Eddie (Bel), Marybeth (Chris) and her grandchildren Kay-Ann, Chris, Nikka, Alex, Keeno, Kaitlyn and Charlotte. Nena was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and sister to five siblings: the late Ninoy Tubis (Minh Hoa), Loretto Llanes (Max Sr.), Adoracion Macapagal (Francisco), Beatriz Tubis, Cristina Tubis and Ampy Keilty (Hugh). In her early years living in the Philippines, Nena was a well-known beautician who catered to military wives and actresses. She was also a caregiver for many years before retiring from Tuxedo Villa here in Winnipeg, MB. In her retirement years she travelled to the Philippines, California, Virginia, Washington, DC and Alaska where she visited her loving family. She enjoyed getting up early in the morning, completing word search puzzles and drinking her cappuccino. She has a large family, many friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews that will forever cherish her memory. She had a quick wit, great sense of humour and is unconditionally loved and respected by all the people in her life that were fortunate enough to know her well. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to all the nurses, doctors, health care aides, and other staff of 3North at Grace Hospital. The Lamay/viewing will be held on Friday, July 8, 2011 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. from 6:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at St. Paul's the Apostle Church at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at The Assumption Cemetery.
