ROBERT STOROSCHUK It is with sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob/Bobby) Storoschuk, husband, dad, and gido, after battling several lengthy illnesses on Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach. Bob is survived by his wife of 42 years, Anntonette (Tonia), and three children, Pamela (Scott), Rick (Christine), and Roger (Stacy). He is also survived by his three treasured grandchildren Taylor, Jaycee, and Nathan. Bob has one sister, Bernice (Jim) Sitar and her family and one brother, Morris and his family. He was predeceased by his parents, Wasyl and Annie Storoschuk. Bob was born in Vita, MB on June 10, 1946. His loyalty has always been in the area and after working up north and living in Winnipeg for a short time, he returned to Vita to farm and was able to do it on the original homestead. Bob was a dedicated farmer. He took pride in everything from raising his cattle to working the land. There he and Tonia raised their family. Community and sports was important to Bob. He was one of many avid supporters to the building of the Vita Arena and maintaining the baseball grounds. Bob played hockey, slo-pitch, and broomball with his children until his health would not allow him to continue. When he was not playing, he was coaching minor hockey and baseball. As the years went on he was found at many rinks and diamonds across southern Manitoba supporting his children and grandchildren. Perhaps Bobby's favourite daily pastime was drinking coffee with the boys, catching up on the local gossip, and bothering the employees with his teasing and quick wit. When you saw his red truck heading east towards Vita, it was coffee time! Bob never let his illnesses keep him down. He fought them right to the end and his perseverance will be a lasting memory for all his family and friends. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. P. Kerr and Dr. D. Sutherland from CancerCare Manitoba. We would also like to thank the Paramedics, the doctors, nurses and staff at the Vita Hospital, Bethesda Hospital and the Health Sciences Centre for the care they provided. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made either to CancerCare Manitoba, a place where Bob always felt such admiration for the staff and volunteers who work there, or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation as strokes have been the most recent battle. Prayers will be held Sunday, August 7, 2011 at the Vita Hall at 7:30 p.m. Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 8, 2011, at the Vita Funeral Home with Father LeClair officiating. Interment to follow at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery near Stuartburn, Manitoba. Arrangements by Vita Funeral Home, Vita, Manitoba, 1-204-425-3114.
