My grandmother, Marion Trudell, passed away in November while I was finishing my final paper for university. I graduated the following February and I often think about how much it would have meant to her to see that milestone. In many ways, I reached it because of her. Marion devoted her life to education, service and community. She worked within the educational system and dedicated herself to helping French-speaking women learn English. She was opening doors for women, building confidence and helping others find their voices. She believed deeply in inclusion, opportunity and the power of learning, and she lived those values every day. She was not only a pillar in her community in Winnipeg, but also a loving, supportive and inspiring grandmother. She led by example quietly, consistently and with great compassion. Her kindness reached far beyond her own family and her impact continues to be felt by the many people whose lives she touched. I remain active in my community because of her. The way I show up for others, the importance I place on service and education and the care I try to give back to the world are all part of the legacy she left behind. She is deeply missed, fondly remembered and forever carried in my heart. We love and miss you, especially Mom. You were truly an incredible woman. I would have loved to talk and write about all of your stories and accomplishments. - Posted by: Rita (Granddaughter) on: Feb 04, 2026
