MARY ELIZABETH LECUYER May 27, 1920 - November 27, 2011 It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that the family of Mary Lecuyer (nee Vanderhorst) announces her passing. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and the eldest of six children, Mary was raised in Fort Frances, Ontario. She met and married the love of her life, James Lecuyer in October 1944. Together they built their home and a successful tourist resort on Lake of the Woods in Nestor Falls, Ontario while raising their family of six. As a result of their regular volunteer work within the church and community at large they were well respected and loved by all. In the fall of 1982, following Jim's sudden death, Mary relocated to Winnipeg, Manitoba where she became a dedicated volunteer for over 25 years at Taché Nursing Centre as well as an active member with the C.W.L. Mary touched the heart of everyone she met and will always be remembered for her charm, grace and winning smile. Mary was indeed a proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She never let an opportunity pass to spend time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all of her children: Diane (Graham) Segger, Paul (Donna Lee), Bill (Marlene), Gerald (Alison), Daniel and Kathleen Renz (Roland Ulbrich); 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren's sporting events or concert performances were always an exciting time for her. Next to family, Mary enjoyed music, dancing, hockey, knitting, desserts and especially ice cream. She loved being by the water and surrounded by nature and often enjoyed a picnic or stroll in the park with friends or family. In her prime time, she looked forward to winter getaways and in particular cruising with her sisters and their spouses. Mary will always be remembered by her beautiful blue eyes and her loving and caring personality. Mary's family is thankful to Poseidon Care Centre, 5th floor nursing staff for the loving care and support over the last two years, and particularly the last two weeks. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, December 2, 2011 at 10:30 a.m., at St. John Brebeuf Roman Catholic Church, 1707 John Brebeuf Place, Winnipeg with Rev. Fr. Darrin Gurr presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Gianna's Roman Catholic Church Building Fund or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
